In today’s society, it seems that almost everything is linked to cancer. One might feel trapped because he or she doesn’t know what is safe for consumption. The ideal body image is also something that individuals strive to attain. In order to achieve this, it is not uncommon for people to seek alternative supplements that are “healthier”. The problem is, sometimes these alternatives cause more harm than good. Artificial sweeteners are designed by man and can metabolize into toxic compounds.

These are the main artificial sweeteners and additive that can increase cancerous activity:

  1. Acesulfame potassium (acesulfame-K)
  2. Sucralose (Splenda)
  3. Aspartame (Nutrasweet, Equal)
  4. Sodium benzoate (additive)

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that has been approved by the FDA as being safe for human consumption. However, studies show that it has been found to increase activity and mobility of cancer cells. You may better know this sweetener as NutraSweet or Equal. This sweetener can have adverse effects on your body when it reaches a temperature greater than 86 degrees. The temperature increase causes bodily processes to occur that can cause nervous system damage and carcinogenic activity. 

Many beverages have artificial additives of their own, without us adding our own supplements. There may be popular beverages that you consume and don’t think twice about. If you saw benzene on an ingredient list, you probably wouldn’t know what it is. When sodium benzoate is combined with ascorbic acid, the two create a highly carcinogenic compound, benzene. There is enough evidence to consider this agent a carcinogen, but organizations are timid to classify this as cancer-causing because they don’t fully understand its process or is more focused on making profits.

The ingredients in Splenda are known to combine and lead to gut problems. The 3 chlorine atoms that create the product cause a series of reactions that can lead to gut dysbiosis. There are many different health problems that can arise from this, with one being cancer.

Artificial sweeteners are synthetically produced in a laboratory and have been highly processed. The development of these products was to reduce caloric intake and reduce the dangerous effects of triglyceride formation and insulin response. While they achieved this goal, they opened the doors to welcome a new set of health problems. The substances that are used to create artificial sweeteners metabolize into toxic compounds that can cause metabolic dysfunction, disease, and even cancer.

Natural sweeteners are far better than their synthetically produced counterparts.  Natural sweeteners also provide at least some nutritional value to the body. When a product is processed it depletes its nutritional contents and increases health risks. It is recommended that you eliminate your consumption of artificial sweeteners. There are hundreds of scientific studies linking the use of artificial sweeteners to causing harmful effects.

The longer you consume artificial sweeteners, the higher your chance of experiencing one of their negative side effects becomes. You can take this matter into your own hands. If you avoid artificial sweeteners you will be doing yourself a favor, by lowering your chance of developing cancer.
